Around here, the collection called New Tees Just In is less a launch and more a shift change. I keep the roster. The animals keep everything else... the lane assignments, the set lists, the backstage politics. My job ends at writing it all down, and this week the schedule reads: water first >>> soundcheck >>> everybody else clock in.
Lane One Is Taken
A whole stretch of this collection reports straight to the water. Giraffe Long Dive clocked in first (nobody argues with a neck that commits that fully to the deep end). Formal Swim arrived in proper attire, Syd Is Diving filed the paperwork mid-air, and Hedgehog Apple Cannonball... the splash zone has been extended, effective immediately. Seal Fish Bucket runs poolside catering with zero complaints on record, and Holding Hands keeps the whole flotilla from drifting off during break.
Soundcheck Runs Until Late
The rest of the collection is on tour. Duet Season opened rehearsals, Dressed for the Encore showed up ready for the end of the show before the show even started, and The One-Animal Band declined all assistance on principle. Tempo Is a Suggestion is official policy now (the metronome resigned). Brass Section of One covers the horns, Bells More Bells covers everything the horns miss, and Smooth as Honey handles the slow numbers. Head and Shoulders Above the Mix runs the board from a height advantage nobody else can match. Nocturnal Set List takes the stage once the lights go down. The Roar Has No Volume Knob is exactly what it says, and the sound engineer has made peace with it. Backstage Pass guards the door. Booking 2028 means the calendar is already full ~ plan accordingly.
Everybody Else on the Roster
Not every job in this lineup is wet or amplified. Elephant Teacup is running an impressively steady tea service, Site Inspection walks the grounds with a clipboard nobody issued, and Hippo Nailed It... stuck the landing, no notes. Sticky Situation is being handled internally (we do not ask questions). Out of the Pouch is officially on the clock, and Everyone Is Welcome is the door policy, posted where the whole crew can read it.
Who This Roster Is For
New Tees Just In exists for the person whose favorite animal has a job and does it straight-faced... the zoo-day regular, the kid who narrates the penguin pool like a shift supervisor, the friend who already has an opinion on which act should close the show. These are premium tees built to be grabbed first out of the drawer, worn on repeat, and explained at length to anyone who asks (someone always asks).
